How to customize dental AI notes to match your practice

OraCore Scribe listens during dental appointments and writes the clinical note. With Note Template, that note can use the format, detail and terminology your practice prefers, so your team keeps familiar documentation as it adds AI-assisted note writing.

What you can customize in a dental AI note

See what Scribe writes after a dental visit

OraCore’s dental note examples include eight visits across general dentistry, hygiene and specialty care. You can read each full note and switch between Narrative and SOAP.

In the comprehensive-exam example, the note separates the imaging findings, periodontal findings, assessment, completed care and next steps. It records that periodontal probing is still pending and carries that through to the plan:

Complete periodontal probing and clinical examination; determine prophylaxis type; schedule restorative care for #30 if caries is confirmed.

That gives the next person reading the chart a clear account of what still needs to happen. The restorative appointment depends on confirmation of caries; the cleaning type depends on the periodontal examination.

The periodontal-therapy example records the upper-left findings, where anesthesia was administered and the follow-up interval in separate sections. The gallery also covers implant maintenance, oral surgery and endodontic visits, so you can see notes for the kinds of care your practice provides.

The gallery’s Benchmarks & Evidence panel adds the supporting transcript evidence beside the documentation checks for that visit.

Keep the parts of your writing style you already like

Bold headings make individual sections easy to find. A narrative gives you room to follow the appointment in sequence. SOAP groups the patient’s report, findings, assessment and plan under familiar headings.

OraCore’s Note Template controls support Narrative and SOAP. You can also choose the amount of detail and configure optional sections. Required clinical sections stay protected.

For example, you might prefer a concise note with clear headings, or more explanation in the treatment discussion. You can add provider and team-member names and the materials, tools and terms your practice uses. These preferences help the note read like documentation from your own office.

Use a favorite note as your starting point

If you already have a note whose writing you like, paste an example into Note Template and choose Match my style. You can also adjust the settings yourself. The live preview shows how the note will read before you apply the preferences to future notes.

Practice settings apply across the team. A provider can set their own preferences, with the remaining settings continuing to follow the practice. A dentist who prefers SOAP can keep that format while colleagues use Narrative.

One style across every type of dental visit

A hygiene visit, an emergency examination and a specialty consultation each call for different documentation. You can use the same preferences for all of them: OraCore writes each note from what happened in that appointment, in your chosen format and writing style.

You can see representative styles in the public Note Template examples. Save the preferences for your own notes in your OraCore account.

Put the note to work across the practice

The clinical note is the starting point for Scribe Team. The plan also prepares visit summaries, Checkout handoffs, insurance narratives with suggested attachments, patient follow-up emails and applicable referral letters. Scribe Team supports unlimited providers at one location.

That gives the front desk the next steps for checkout and gives the insurance team a narrative to work with, alongside the provider’s clinical note.
